While runners were getting lost in the Waitakeries, and cyclists stopping to take pictures of them, and 8 o'clockers were swimming out to cable buoy, 3 trail blazers pictured above entered the balmy fresh waters just north of Lake Taupo and swam 3.5.km down the Waikato river all in under 35 mins - beat that everyone?? Conditions were as good as it gets. The organisors apologised for the slow running due to the dry weather - we weren't complaining we all felt like swimming Gods, pictured Ian, Jenny & me at the end after Ian had one a spot prize.
