Yes Saturday and Sunday
Hi
For those that weren't around this weekend, I have to report it was a bonza for swimming.
Saturday
Our Long Swim on Saturday was a great success. Perfect conditions and a swifter than normal tide.
Cathy, Helen, Ben, Jenny, Peter, Steve (Navy), Erin, Jo, Nicky R, Maryanne, other Nikki, Richard and Keith all left from the reserve opposite the library. Kindly supported by Helen's brother Peter in the kayak.
The Fabulous Four: me, Fiona, Renske and Richelle launched ourselves off the wharf at Torpedo Bay. Some launches more successful than others, (we think Fiona split her cap with her dive off!).
It was a tad chilly with a mild southerly but the water was as warm as ever. We whizzed around North Head and were at the south end of Narrowneck in 45 minutes. Plenty of time to avoid the Devo swim club event.
Jo, Nicky R, Maryanne, Richard and the other Nikki exited at Narrowneck. The larger group not having caught up with the Fab Four yet. Renske had planned to exit here but she was having such a good time she continued on to Taka with us.
We got overtaken and undertaken by the Fast Group just before Cable Buoy so we congregated there for a chat and a car key tranisiton. Very tricky!
The Fab Four heading into the toilet block, the rest to Milford. Erin exited somewhere in between. ( we have checked she is safe).
Fab Four went and attempted to get the cars from Narrowneck and Devonport. Richelle and I thought Helen's car had issues and needed a choke until we figured out the door key wouldn't start the engine (it tried and we tried!).
Brunch at Mint (12 of us) was great. All arrived there about the same time (after our wee trip to Devonport and back). Great coffee and brunch.
Sunday
Yes there's more.
Around the Rock - Matakatia. (2km and 4km)
Low turnout, about 40 in all, mostly vets (over 40's, yes most of us are just over 40!)
Usual suspects: Jenny, Jo, Me, Geoff (and Helen the wife), Simon, Sarah, Vicki, John H, Vic, Jim, Richard and some other familiar faces.
Slight Southerly into the beach made it tough going out, round the rock wide, and a nice push back in. (Twice around for most).
Geoff won the men's 4km division, Jenny the women's 4km.
Prizes all round. Lots of spot prizes, and a well run event.
Brunch at Little Manly not so successful mainly due to the large numbers of people at the cafe.
Have had to have a snooze before I attempted to write this!
Roll on the Mount and Shark Alley!
