This event certainly sounds like one I'd like to aim for, with money going to a good cause and plenty of distance options.

For those keen to make a weekend of it, contact the Lake Okataina Lodge and see if rooms are available. I stayed there last year when the storm rolled in the night before and found it very pleasant.
I still see this as a small swim but one that provides enough charity to help the local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization in Rotorua.

Dear Swimmers
We have finally got our URL up and running and invite you all to join us in the Rotary Charity Swim at Lake Okataina. The most beautiful lake in Rotorua.
We have distances ranging from 6k; 3km; 1500m; 800m and 400m.
We start promptly at 10:00 and hope to have all races completed by 1:00 for those of you traveling.
