The Good, the Bad and the Ugly below:
The GOOD:
- Well all of us of course that ventured down there. We did miss those of you who couldn't make it. Honest...
- A mix of day trippers, over nighters, whole weekenders to catch up with family, have a weekend away and even some to compete in the Tinman triathlon the next day.
- Great to see so many familiar faces that we haven't seen since last season.
- I think it was 660 particapants looking at the results in 8 waves.
- Hardly any argy bargy.
- Water very clear.
- Great swimming over the rocks and kelp.
- Hardly any surf (good for some)
- Definitely some good training over winter with some great times and changes in fortune from the previous season.
- No rain and the sun peaked out every now and then.
- After swim coffee and lunch were good.
- Madness award goes to Helen for swimming togs only. The water was colder than Takapuna.
- "What are friends for?" award to Jenny and Keith who recognised that Helen had mild hypothermia and took charge, managed her and got her dry and warm.
- "Fastest Run of the Day" to John Haigh who had been given a Sunnto tracker watch for his birthday and was trying it out at the Mount in the race with it set on the Running option!
Top Row:
Maggie Ian, Damien, Meegan, Elizabeth, Keith, Jenny.
Bottom Row:
Catherine, Kevman, Helen.
The BAD:
The unfortunate incident where we lost a fellow swimmer. Condolences to the family, the lifeguards and Scott and his crew.
The UGLY:
Yes Jellies!
The blighters are down there too.
With the water so clear it made the jellies even clearer!
Most of us got stung.
The swim wasn't too bad. Water was colder than Takapuna. It felt like a head wind along the beach before we turned to the shore.
Helen's best side below. With no wetsuit she was lucky that was the only place she got stung.
