Update on Takapuna and Jellies

Hi all
Well, Saturday 15th October was fantastic. Maybe the occasional jelly fish but it was a pleasure to be out there swimming away without a care in the world.

16th - Sunday was good too from second hand reports received
17th - Monday the odd one around ditto from second hand reports received
18th - Tuesday - no reports
19th - Wednesday - what a shocker. Turned up at 6:50am at the boat ramp to see quite a collection of people milling around. Something was definitely up. Axel, Neil and Alan  had got in earlier and were out pretty damn quick. Jelly Soup was the phrase being bandied around. Those chaps said they swam from the boat ramp to buoy 2, hated it, swam in to the beach, just as bad. Suffering stings on their faces and hands not just the sensation of being one with them!

So much angst among the Wed 7am swimmers. Talk of Milford beach v the pool v coffee.
The pool and coffee were popular options.
It was very hard not to go in as it looked amazing. Very calm, sun was up, no wind, you know one of those days.
A few of us went for a run and one brave soul decided it would be OK to head from the boat ramp to Milford as the water looked so inviting and there were only reports of jellies along Taka beach.
A very brave call as it turned out as they were apparently thick heading out to the Milford Taka reef marker and just as bad trying to come in at Thorn's Beach.

Grrrrr!

Kate reported a few dogs at the vet clinic suffering from eating/licking them.
Jo reported loads on the ferry crossing between Devo and the City.

All very strange. It is changing almost daily. So no advice except "Expect the unexpected"!! and it is worth a gamble to turn up at the beach and see what is has to offer.
