Gunfire Breakfast and an Adventure Swim

“The idea of a gunfire breakfast actually originated from WWI and usually consisted of a rough breakfast of coffee/tea laced with rum before the soldiers resumed battle in the morning.

What a great way to commemorate ANZAC day. A Gunfire Breakfast followed by an Adventure Swim.

Details are:
Monday 25th April.
Meet Takapuna Toilet Block for a 7:30am departure.
Car shuffle to Milford Toilet  Block.
Gunfire breakfast provided and served.
In the sea around 7:50am.
May send an advance party of faster swimmers as a decoy!
First landing – Thorne’s bay (watch out for possible Turks!)
Second landing – Triangle at Takapuna beach
Third landing (optional) – Clifton Road.

Other important info:
·         High tide 9:28am
·         Red swim caps to be worn (pls bring extra red caps if you have them). Red as in Poppies!!
·         Road closures from the Strand to the Library and South on Lake Road from 9:00am. Parking at the Toilet Block and surrounds will be fine at the time we will be there.
·         No kayakers provided but any supporters on or off the water most welcome.
·         Contingency – make it up on the day.
