What a great day for a swim and we all enjoyed it. I dug up the times for the 2009 swim as this was the last one I did (and this is all about me!) and here are some comparison times for the folk I could find - sorry if I have missed anyone. If I recall correctly 2009 had near perfect conditions as well so I think we have all got faster, though in 2009 we were all just 5 mins apart while this year we are 9 minutes apart. Go Helen!
2011 2009
Helen 72.53 87.54
Cynthia 77.15 86.58
Cathy 77.42 91.41
Peter 81.53 91.21
opps - my numbers moved when I posted this but I sure you can work it out.

ReplyDeleteHi guys,
ReplyDeleteAn amazing swim it was! I very much enjoyed it and conditions were almost sensational. It strikes me everyone is faster, me too since 2010, so ... I'm almost convinded the current was somewhat helping. Or not??
2011 2010
Frank 85.18 91.15
Jason 78.49 87.14

I think it's great that you all keep getting better results. It's all about reward for effort. Keep training and you keep getting better. I don't think my father started posting slower results until he got to about 70. On that basis you've got years of improvement left!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely swim. I was 20 minutes faster than 2010 and 10 minutes faster than 2008 and still slower than everyone else at 1:26:26! But I am still pleased and look forward to at least another 30 years of trying to improve, based on Anna's dad!
ReplyDeleteWere we faster or was it just the conditions? I decided to look at the winners times as in theory that should reflect the variable conditions. So here at the winning times for the past five years.
ReplyDelete2007 54.26
2008 52.57
2009 55.07
2010 55.46
2011 53.29
And here's another thing comparing 2011 and 2009. Brent Fosters time in 2009 was 55.07 and in 2011 56.11. Brent was slower in 2011 while we were all faster!!
Haven't a clue what any of that means.....
