It's been interesting to see what a fabulously effective grapevine we have for getting the word out to swimmers. I have heard about the Milford charity swim from about 5 different sources!
I personally would like to support this and had thought about doing the race and then having an add-on. I think traffic, parking and crowds will make it a challenge, and so we'll have to be a bit flexible with timings. A quick chat with Kevin last night and Meegan's email this morning have prompted me to come up with the following suggestion:
Meet at the Takapuna toilet block at 7am and make the way north to Milford by
1. Walking along the beach (it is near low tide)
2. Cycling
3. Car pooling
Do the charity swim. Then either walk, cycle or swim back to Takapuna.
The tide (low approx 8.30am) will be starting to go in by the time we will be ready to leave, so the only thing to bear in mind will be swimming over the Milford reef at low tide. The southwesterly is forecast to drop by Saturday.
I have a super busy day at work today so probably the 1km swim will finish me off anyway! It also means I won't be able to check emails/blog until much later tonight (if at all), so send me a text if you have any questions, feedback or other ideas. Better still, put a post on the blog if there are any updates/changes that everyone would like to see.
See you tomorrow, Jo
