Swimmers take to the road

We had a fine representation of swimmers at the Pukekohe Express bike race today.
Judy AND Garth Barfoot (yes, he's still around), Helen, Meegan, Karen, Martin and moi.
Karen and Helen both did their first race, a huge effort in trying conditions.
CONGRATULATIONS GALS
Judy won a prize for oldest female but Garth was outdone by several older men including an 82 year old who completed the 100km race. Inspirational.
Martin was a little slower than last year but finished in a time that the rest of us would kill for.
Karen finished the 50kms with a grin that could've engulfed the whole of Franklin district.
Meegan and Helen kept each other company and showed phenomenal tenacity to finish the 100kms despite torrential rain and howling winds which would've hit about the time they were passing their car for the first time. Would've loved to have heard their conversation at that time!
I had a wonderful first 50kms but blew up trying to stay with faster cyclists and spent the last 50 in my own personal hell. All made better with dry clothes and corn chips.

Seems we swimmers are adapting quite well to life on land.
